Jive Records is hailing 17 year-old Lil Mama as the "voice of the young people" who represents "the next generation of hip hop music." The label has released the punchy "Lip Glopp" as a teaser to test the waters for this emerging new talent from Brooklyn, NY."Lip Gloss" is a very gimmicky track with its primal, pounding beats and simple, high school inspired lyrics. But its simplicity is also its strength. Lil Mama's gifted delivery is tight and right to the point, which makes this a track to take notice of whether you're into hip hop or not.
All that's really missing is just a bit of melody, some little riff here or there to add some color to the canvas. But hey, this is a really a fun track to play with for all you mix tape makers out there. It's popping! (Thanks to the fine folks at Jive/Zomba for giving me permission to share the MP3.)
