Free Download: Satellite Party "Wishing Upon A Dog Star"

A few weeks ago, I blogged about Satellite Party, Perry Farrell's latest musical endeavour. Together with Nuno Bettencourt, Kevin Figueiredo, Etty Lau Farrell and Carl Restivo, Farrell has put together the disc "Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party" that mixes the excitement of rock music with the electronic production qualities of today.
He also enlisted a bunch of guest artists to add to the unique vibe of the record. People you can hear on the album include The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and John Frusciante, U.K. production duo/beat-makers Hybrid, New Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook, down tempo pioneers Thievery Corporation, Porno for Pyros' guitarist Peter DiStefano, Black Eyed Pea's Fergie, film composer Harry Gregson-Williams (Chronicles of Narnia, Kingdom of Heaven) and even a 30-piece orchestra.
In the Electronic Press Kit, Farrell explains that when he put together the concept for Satellite Party he had a themed party in mind that would take place on a commercial spaceflight. First single taken from the group's album is the compelling "Wish Upon A Dog Star" that was produced by Steve Lillywhite. Says Farrell, "Specifically 'Dog Star' was the one that caught Steve Lillywhite's ear as 'this is going over very, very well with people.' Just because of the pure sonics of it, the drive of it and the beauty and the grandeur of it."
He's right. The anthemic "Wish Upon A Dog Star" immediately grabbed me and not only because of Peter Hook's instantly recognizable bassline. Fergie is featured on background vocals. It is a bit faint, but you can spot her around the 2:30 minute mark. "Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party" will be released on May 29. (Download link will point to a ZShare page. I've been assured by the forces that be that this track can be shared. This is important because I'd like to keep it guilt-free.)
